Jersey City Spotlight: Jenna Barclay

TELL US ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS! HOW DID IT START? BIGGEST CHALLENGE? FAVORITE PART? WHERE DO YOU SEE IT GOING?

I've been active on social media for years and always found it to be a fun creative outlet, so a few years ago I started helping small business owners with their social media while working full time in fitness. The pandemic really shook the fitness industry, so I decided to take the leap and start freelancing full time. While I was building my social media management business, I started creating fun videos for my own social media channels and have been able to partner with some amazing brands. 

It can be challenging to balance my own content work with my client work because I can really get caught up in creating (if I have an idea for content, it's like my brain won't rest until I bring that idea to life), but I LOVE that this is how I get to spend my days now. I also love the connection aspect of this work - connecting with clients, connecting with brands, connecting with communities online - it's so much fun. 

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST SOURCE OF INSPIRATION?

I'm constantly inspired by the people in Jersey City and the NYC area in general. There are so many people doing so many amazing things here; there really is inspiration everywhere you turn. 

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO FOR FUN?

I love to travel, be outside, try new restaurants, visit museums with my husband, and I have a shameless addiction to terrible reality TV. I also oddly love grocery shopping and can't wait for the Whole Foods to open downtown.

- Restaurant - Too many to choose from! But I love Orale, South House, and Hamilton Pork.
